Issue: Some Gmail features have failed to load due to an Internet connectivity problem

Problem
When trying to open email in Gmail, a window (from Gmail) opens stating "Some Gmail features have failed to load due to an Internet connectivity problem"

Browser:  Chrome
Browser version: 4.0.249.43 (most recent version available at time of this posting)
Operating System: Windows Vista 64 bit

Fix
It appears the issue arises from using particular Gmail lab features. In Gmail, do the following:

  1. Click on "Settings"
  2. Click on "Labs"
Alternatively, you can simply click on the green labs icon in the upper right hand corner
  3. Disable the Labs feature that is causing the issue. Replies in the Google forums have noted success in disabling the following features:
    • Pictures in chat (this is the one I had to disable)
    • Google Calendar gadget
    • Add any gadget by URL
