Restore a Toshiba Satellite laptop without the restore disc

Problem
A friend or relative has a Toshiba Satellite laptop that needs the operating system, drivers, etc reloaded but they don't have the discs available.

Fix
For this scenario, thankfully Toshiba makes it relatively easy to access the factory restore options available on a separate partition.
  1. Turn on the laptop with the AC power cord plugged in.
  2. Press F1 at the Toshiba loading screen
  3. TAB down to Ramdisk Device Options and hit "Enter"
  4. Click "Next" at the "System Recovery Options"
  5. Click through the recovery options, make your choice and grab a drink and watch the system as it restores itself back to when it was first purchased.
Note: For this article, I restored the Satellite l305-s5917, a laptop with Vista Basic pre-installed. Other models and results may vary but I believe that Toshiba uses the same basic restore partition for its Satellite series of laptops (in the last few years at least).
